Student Leaders

At Bracken Ridge State School, we take great pride in watching our students develop into confident and capable leaders.

At the end of Year 5, potential candidates for student leadership positions are nominated.  Students who are nominated for school captain positions, prepare speeches to present to the Year 4 to 6 students, teachers, administration, and their parents. In the address, students indicate what they feel will make them a great School Captain for our school. The student body in Years 4-6, in conjunction with the Teaching Staff then make the difficult decision and vote for their preferred candidates for the following year.   The induction ceremony to officially present badges and the school captains to the wider school community is held early in the following year.

 Student Council

The Student Council's main aim is to give children in Year 5/6 an opportunity to exercise and develop leadership skills. It also aims to teach children the necessary skills to conduct and manage a meeting.

The Student Council also provides an avenue for students to undertake fundraising activities in order to contribute some funds for a designated charity or a school project they wish to undertake.

The School Council draws its membership from the Year 5/6 classes, with students from each class nominated to the Student Council.   To become a member of the Student Council, children must be a School Leader.

Student council then vote in their leadership positions within the school council to include; a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and general members.
