At Bracken Ridge State School, the curriculum provides students with the foundations for successful, lifelong learning and the participation in Australian society. The curriculum plan is informed by the Australian Curriculum, Reporting and Assessment Authority (ACARA), Education Queensland‘s Essential Learnings and Standards and the Early Years Guidelines for Prep.
The Australian Curriculum has been published for English, Mathematics, Science and History for Foundation to Year 10. Curriculum for these years is being developed for Geography, Languages, The Arts, Health and Physical Education, Technologies, Economics and Business and Civics and Citizenship and will be published progressively.
There are nine Key Learning Areas (KLA) – English, Mathematics, Science, History, SOSE (Study of Society and the Environment), Technology, The Arts, Health and Physical Education and Languages (Japanese for Years 6-7). Teachers plan, teach, assess and report on these areas.
