Choral program
Junior choir

This is a non-auditioned choir for students in Years 2-4 The group rehearses weekly. The aim is to enjoy rehearsals whilst learning basic choral techniques.

Senior choir

This is also a non-auditioned choir and students from Years 5 & 6 have the opportunity to participate. Rehearsals are weekly. Further experience in the development of vocal techniques is offered.

Instrumental music program

The Instrumental Music Program is accessible to students in Years 5, 6 and 7. Woodwind, brass and percussion are offered and students receive a 30 minute lesson in small groups every week. All students in the program are required to participate in a concert band when they have reached an acceptable level of competence on their instrument.

Senior band

The instrumental students form the school band which is conducted by the instrumental music instructor. This ensemble performs at special school occasions during the year, as well as travelling to compete and perform at various events. 

Junior band

This band usually forms in Term 3 and is made up of students new to the instrumental program that year. They also have a few opportunities to perform at school. 

Music camps

Non-residential district music camps are available to students during the year:

• Honours Music Camp for advanced students in June (audition required)
• Bramble Bay Schools Music Festival for intermediate students in July
• Junior Music Camp for beginner students in September

Recruitment

In Year 4, a selection process is undertaken to identify students who have an aptitude and desire to learn a band instrument the following year (beginners commence in Year 5). Following this process, offers to join the instrumental program are made to selected students.

Recruitment usually takes place in late October.

Performance opportunities for Bracken Ridge students

Special occasions – Leaders' Induction Ceremony, Harmony Day, ANZAC Day
